I play on the pvp server Jagged Coast. Not really a fan of open world pvp but I didn't have much choice because the gf had already decided on the server and the guild for both of us lol. So far there are no reward or penalties for engaging in pvp(other than dying when you lose a battle). If you are in a guild war, then the opposing guild gets a point for each time they kill you, but the only reward for getting points and winning guild wars is bragging rights. I couldn't really tell you how it is tied into the lore either atm.

I might have to pop in on Dragonfall some time and say hello! :)

I play on Dragonfall server. When a RL friend and I were looking at the server list we found that this was the most populated PvE server. For me that was important because in the past we've tried PvP servers but wouldn't last on them largely because we normally wouldn't join a large guild, so we lacked safety in numbers. On top of that I'm a late night player so being able to play with RL friends is suspect. Instead of having to worry about the distractions and focus on the game is why we selected Dragonfall to be our home. A bunch of carebears, I know, but I don't understand the PvP implementation in Tera. I guess based on what little I've looked into is that like any other mmo the PvP is for additional gear and item rewards, but how that's integrated into the story and lore I'm uncertain.

Yes, it's a tough call. There's always a level of sexualization in mmos, but in Tera that level is turned up to eleven. This shouldn't be a surprise though. To the layman of Tera the art style is still easily identifiable as being heavily influenced by Asian pop culture. My first disturbance with the Elin came when I was searching for the different races on youtube to see videos of them. One video that popped up from that search made my hairs stand on end. What's funny is doing a google search on "sexualization asian mmo" brings up many top links in regard to Tera and GW2.

I agree that Elin are stupid creepy. When I first saw them in the character creator I thought "Oh they're so cute!" And then I realized how little clothing they had on... It's also unsettling how they sway back and forth while standing still, it just looks... unnatural? Can jail-bait furries look natural?. I don't know if I could bring myself to play one

Wow, that's insane. I do love that a fight can expectantly become a marathon battle. Sounded like a lot of fun and I would've loved to have experienced that.

The other day, the husband and I (Priest/Lancer pair) were questing through the mid-30s zone, Pora Elinu, and stumbled across a World Boss (Trunus). These are always our favorites and we jumped at the opportunity. Well, he did. I asked him to pause so I could toss up my buffs first, at least. Anyway, we'd only whittled down something like 15% of this thing's health when I laughed and said, "Ha! Think we'll get this fight done in 40 minutes?" Oh, of course! How could we not? Well, the whole fight took us over an HOUR. We were astonished.

I accidentally soloed a Kumas on my Priest the other day. I think it took me a full 20 minutes to kill it. I agree that it's cool that we can take on elite mobs by ourselves, if we dodge and use the right abilities, but man does it take forever.

I know, right? Last night I had stopped by a Barnes and Noble and found Tsuro and Zombie Dice. Since these are simple and quick games to play I had purchased both and intend to use them as a gateway for more complex family board games. Cheers.

That last game looks like loads of fun. I wish I had more time for tabletops and cardgames these days; there are even a few unopened board games lying on my shelf, sigh! One thing about tabletops is the social value for me, getting together around a table - a bit like we USED to do playing console games in the 90ies. I do miss that, no matter how awesome and coop many online games are these days.

Oh and a warm welcome in the blogosphere to you. :)
